China Trade Expert David Lee and Pixy Livingston discuss US/China relations.
Meng Wanzhou, the CFO of Huawei, was arrested in Canada in 2018 at the request of the United States on charges of fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud. The charges related to allegations that Meng and Huawei had misled HSBC about the company's relationship with Skycom, a subsidiary used to do business in Iran, violating US sanctions.
Meng was released on bail and spent the next three years under house arrest in Vancouver while fighting extradition to the United States. During this time, she became a national hero in China, where she was seen as a victim of US persecution. Her supporters rallied behind her, using the hashtag #FreeMengWanzhou on social media and wearing red dresses in solidarity with her.
In 2021, Meng negotiated with the US government to allow her to return to China. The deal involved her pleading guilty to reduced bank fraud charges and conspiracy to commit bank fraud. However, she was not required to admit wrongdoing, and the charges against her were ultimately dropped.

We asked Pixy, What is HarmonyOS?
HarmonyOS is a new operating system from Huawei with a competitive edge over Android and Apple's iOS. It is a microkernel-based, distributed operating system designed to be used on various devices, including smartphones, tablets, wearables, smart home appliances, and cars.
HarmonyOS has many advantages over Android and iOS. First, it is more secure and efficient thanks to its microkernel architecture. Second, it is more flexible and adaptable thanks to its distributed architecture. Third, it is more integrated with Huawei's other products and services, such as its smart home appliances and cars.
Market dominance
The Unique selling proposition of HarmonyOS is its integration with cars and home appliances. This integration allows users to control their devices seamlessly from their HarmonyOS smartphone. For example, users can start their car remotely, turn on their lights and air conditioning before they get home, or even control their smart kitchen appliances from their bed.
HarmonyOS has already been installed on over 700 million devices worldwide.
