B R I L L I A N T review on the "unspoken heard" aspect of producing any metal or most mined products... Sure we need "X" commodity, and a lot more of it, to support the economy's expansion/feed electrification/etc. BUT... how are you going to get the resource out of the ground? and then transported to the mill, concentrator or smelter? What powers those? Not unsustainable, unreliable "only-existing-because-of-subsidies" green power generators! Globally, we need higher-output, cleaner energy, yes. Fossil fuels? Yep, they can fill the gap and won't stop doing so for the next 50+ years whether we like it or not, but "carbon = bad" according to media. Nuclear? sure, but is there enough resource discovered, recoverable, processing facilities, storage and disposal facilities? How fast is that coming on line?
Is this a losing battle? No. but Change is upon us. It's here. Innovation and increased mining activity, increased rebalancing of resources will play through... But it's logical to expect volatility in commodity and energy prices/availability will be the immediate and mid-term result. Brave new world... change is here.
